And on a different note... (see what i did there?) what is the best live album?
Contenders:
Peter Frampton - Frampton comes alive
Cheap Trick - Live at Budokan
Bob Seger - Live Bullet
The Band - The Last Waltz
Nirvana - 'MTV Unplugged in New York'
Deep Purple - 'Made In Japan'
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Live! (Tuff Gong, 1975)
Johnny Cash - Live at Folsom Prison
Other live albums?

Springsteen Live 1975-1985 captures The Boss at his best, lots of those cd's are on my playlist
Also like the Live From New York City set from 2000
Lyrnyd Skynryd's "One More From the Road" is also classic the 15 minute version of "Freebird" is awesome (play it pretty for Atlanta)
Finally Dire Straits "Alchemy" is excellent, Love to air guitar "Sultans of Swing" while on the treadmill

There are some outstanding live albums - in any number of genres - but for Rock there's ONLY one:
THE WHO: Live At Leeds
[altho' The ROLLING STONES' Get Your Ya Yas Out is pretty good too...]
Maybe I'll list some from other genres when I can...

THE WHO: Live At Leeds That is a great album! For me though, I think it is still The Last Waltz...might be because i am from Canada.

Do like The Last Waltz, great album.
The Frames - Set List (I'm sure almost nobody knows them unless you're Irish) Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won ACDC - Live At Donnington Manu Chao - Radio Bemba Sound System (best live act/album ever)

Another outstanding live album that would be a 'desert island disc' for me would have to be
The ALLMAN BROTHERS: Live at the Fillmore East (1971)!

Last Waltz is definitely up there as one of the best, also likely the best concert movie ever done (though Stop Making Sense is very close)
I just did a listen of the Allman Brothers album, yeah that's a good one still think Skynyrd is a better album for southern rock though but I've always been biased towards them
If you are of a certain age like I am, Frampton Comes Alive was a required part of your record collection and still holds up quite well.
There are also some great bootleg's of Dead shows out there that are really good

Let's not forget HUMBLE PIE: Performance - Rockin' The Fillmore (*also 1971)
And for you Frampton fans: he was one of the players on this album, before he went all commercial...!
I can appreciate liking the Lynryd Skynryd, but I have to go with the Allmans for the sheer breadth of styles/genres they incorporated into their sound...not to mention Duane Allman's absolutely superlative guitar!

Just outstanding Rock&Roll; the way it was before all the e/iGadgets screwed everything up...!
