Let's make a list of stuff that makes us do a double take. Stuff that in the west no one would bat an eye at, but here, in Korea it is as rare as hen's teeth. Here is my first entry. Driving home today and stopped at a crosswalk. Woman walks by with a golden retriever on a leash. Beautiful dog. First one I saw here, ever.

Saw a couple of St. Bernards in a yard here once. Beautiful animals too. You could tell they were being well taken care of.

TOYOTA Land Cruisers. I have seen one, and one only in the ROK and it was owned by a Korean. I chatted with him and he said that everyone does a double take when they see it and want to chat with him and take photos. Common as grass back where i come from.

Female big rig drivers. Not that rare in the west. Here in the ROK, I have seen a lady driving a rig exactly one time.
Man, I did a double take and damn near drove off the road myself.

They were some good gals... if almost 95% XXXL-sized, and the other 5% vaguely resembling a cracked-out Margot Kidder living in the dumpster and/or lady in a Faces of Meth poster. Good-hearted gals though... most of 'em. Salt of the Earth types.
^^ (Doesn't apply to the married gals running teams with their hubbies usually.)
And yeah, you're right. Never saw one here.
Speaking of Normal in the West and Utterly Unheard of in the ROK and related to the above... Freightliners, Petes, Kenworths and Macks...
Never saw a one here.

^^ Ditto all of the above thread. Never understood the whole "goatee" thing myself. As the drivers used to call 'em... "San Francisco 'Good Buddy' beards." Ever since then, whenever I see a feller with a 'good buddy beard,' I think... Not many "Good buddy Beards" amongst the locals in the ROK...
